Colin Hurley theatre workshops
well, why wouldn’t you?
I’d be delighted to run one of my workshops in conjunction with a show.
I can provide workshops on performance, drawing on my experience of playing at Shakespeare’s Globe, playing with The Factory Theatre Company (stripped back, experimental pop-up Shakespeare, in unconventional spaces), and teaching Classical Acting at LAMDA .
My workshops can be enjoyed whatever your level of experience or confidence, and can include any of the following:
-
Playing The Space You’re In
-
Making Friends With The Verse,
-
Circles of Concentration
-
A Mobile Style of Acting
-
Actioning Starter Pack
-
Walking The Angles
If you're a teacher, I would be delighted to offer workshops for your students, particularly those studying iGCSE, IB, or A Level Theatre and/or English.

For English students, I can offer bespoke programmes based on any Shakespeare text. All workshops facilitate a deeper understanding, focusing on active approaches to character, language, and themes. Using key “soundbite” quotations, students explore meaning through performance, helping them develop a more confident and personal engagement with the text; useful for both coursework and examination.
For Theatre/Drama students, the sessions align closely with devising and performance components. I introduce a range of practical exercises and rehearsal techniques designed to build confidence, deepen ensemble work, and encourage students to “play the space they’re in.” The emphasis is on making text feel immediate, natural, and alive - combining discipline with a strong sense of play

I have worked as an actor for over fifty years, including with the National Theatre, the Royal Shakespeare Company, and Shakespeare’s Globe.

Maximum group size: 30 students.
My workshops for adults are typically 2 hrs or 3 hrs.
Maximum group size: 30 participants
